How to choose a webcam

Light first, resolution second

This is the one piece of advice that genuinely changes how the picture looks. Every camera — at any price — needs light falling on your face from the front. A camera pointed into a window, or in a room lit only by the monitor, produces a dark, grainy image, because the sensor has to push its sensitivity up. The same camera with a lamp in front of you looks a class better.

Which is why the biggest difference in this range is not the sensor but the lighting: some models are compact cameras that mount on a monitor, and some are sets with a built-in ring light on their own tripod, with adjustable brightness and a colour temperature range from warm to cool. If you stream or record in the evening and have no dedicated lamp, a ring light in the box solves a problem no sensor specification can.

Resolution and frame rate

A higher resolution gives a sharper picture, but it counts together with frames per second — and those two are usually traded against each other. Smooth 1080p at a higher frame rate often looks better on a stream than a higher resolution at a lower one, especially since streaming platforms rescale the image anyway. Resolution, sensor resolution and maximum frame rate are in the Parametry tab of each model — read them together rather than separately.

Field of view

The horizontal field of view decides how much of the room enters the frame. A narrower one frames head and shoulders and forgives an untidy desk; a wider one takes in more of the surroundings and helps if you want to show your setup or sit close to the camera. The angle in degrees is on each product page; some models also offer digital zoom to crop the frame.

Autofocus and low light

Every LORGAR camera has automatic focusing and automatic low-light correction. Autofocus matters if you move around in frame or hold things up to the camera — a fixed-focus camera requires you to stay in one plane.

The camera's microphone

The cameras have built-in stereo microphones with noise reduction, and they are entirely adequate for video calls and meetings. For a stream, a podcast or recordings, though, a separate microphone is worth adding — the difference in sound is larger and more noticeable than the difference in picture between camera models. Mounting, privacy and compatibility

The cameras mount on a monitor with a universal bracket; the models also have a tripod thread, so you can stand one beside the computer or fit it to your own tripod. The ring-light sets come with their own folding, height-adjustable tripod.

Every model has a physical privacy cover — a sliding shutter or a magnetic cap over the lens. It is mechanical, independent of software, and the only kind you can trust without thinking about it.

Compatibility: each product page lists the supported operating systems — Windows, macOS and Android, each with a minimum version — as well as support for Smart TVs and set-top boxes. The cameras work plug and play, with no drivers to install. LORGAR does not name specific streaming applications on its webcams, so we do not claim compatibility with any of them individually; if you need confirmation for your app, write to info@lorgar.pl.

Frequently asked questions

Will a higher resolution really improve my stream?

Less than you would think. Fix the light on your face and the framing first, resolution after that. Streaming platforms and messengers compress and rescale the image regardless.

Will the camera cope in the evening with only a monitor for light?

Every camera has automatic low-light correction, but none can make light from nothing. If you record in the evening, choose a model with a built-in ring light or add a separate lamp positioned in front of you.

Can I adjust the colour and brightness of the light?

On ring-light models, yes — you adjust brightness and colour temperature from warm to cool. The range is on the product page.

Does the camera have autofocus?

Yes, every model focuses automatically.

Is the camera's microphone good enough instead of a separate one?

For meetings and video calls, yes. For streaming and recording, a separate microphone gives a noticeably bigger improvement than changing camera.

Is there a physical privacy cover?

Yes, on every model — as a sliding shutter or a magnetic cap over the lens.

How do I mount the camera?

On a monitor with the universal bracket, or on a tripod via the thread in the base. Ring-light sets come with their own height-adjustable tripod.

Does the camera work on a Mac and on Android?

The supported systems and their minimum versions are in the Parametry tab of each model. The manufacturer also lists Smart TV support there.

Will it work with my streaming software?

The cameras are plug and play, but LORGAR does not name specific streaming applications on them, so we do not confirm compatibility with any one in particular. Write to us before ordering and we will check.

What about warranty and returns?

24 months of manufacturer's warranty verified by serial number, 2 years of liability for the goods' conformity with the contract, and 14 days to return without giving a reason — details in Complaints and returns, order and payment terms in the Shop regulations.
